Navroz Festival in Srinagar is one of the most important and glorious festivals of Shia Muslims. This festival commemorates the birth of Prince Aly Muhammad, and it is celebrated for 9 days with great enthusiasm in the picturesque valley.
Navroz Festival comes a week after the New Year day. Unlike other festivals of Shia Muslims, this festival is marked by good eating and several activities showing a spirit of happiness. The Muslims wear new and colorful clothes and visit the mosque to offer prayer. On this auspicious occasion, special prayers are held in large open areas and usually followed by a sermon. To show the spirit of peace and love, worshippers greet and embrace each other. After that people visit friends and relatives to indulge in fun and frolic.
